- Download from Dell
- Login as Administrator on the Laptop
- Run the BIOS Update
- The Laptop reboots and updates
- Job Done
After a little research, it turned out to be a rogue registry key. Removing this solved the problem.
The key is located here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM ->ControlSet001 -> Services -> DELLBIOS
To fix this:
- Login as an Administrator
- Run Regedit
- Navigate to the above location in the registry
- Delete the entire "DELLBIOS" Key
- Reboot the laptop
- Re-Run the BIOS Update
The BIOS should now update without error.
Always remember to backup any registry keys you are editing before you change/delete them. Also have your power pack plugged in to the laptop before you begin the BIOS update.
